Create a Grading Policy for a District or Campus

The district/campus can define multiple policies or a single policy for a campus schedule to meet the district grading policy needs. With mandated policies, teachers have no ability to edit or change the policy settings, but they can begin adding assignments immediately.

If a grading policy is to be partially or completely based on skills, you must first create the skill sets.

Create a district/campus grading policy

  1. Select Students from the Jump to Module pull-down list in the upper right corner.

  2. Select Schedule Manager from the Scheduling menu, and that window opens.

  3. Click the icon for the campus for which you want to define a policy, and the Edit Schedule window opens.

  4. Click on the Policies tab, then Add Grading Policy. A window opens allowing you to define the policy.

  5. Complete the Global Grading Policies fields as described. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.

  6. Complete the Assignment Based Policy Attributes if you selected either Assignment Based or Hybrid in step 5. Otherwise skip to step 11.

  7. Click Add Category.

  8. Complete the Category fields as described. Note: The sum of category weights must equal 100. Any category that isn't used in the course won't be averaged and therefore won't impact the students' grades.

  9. Repeat steps 7-8 until you've entered all categories for this policy.

  10. Select the Applicable Courses for this grading policy by checking the boxes. Note: All courses listed on the Schedule Manager > Offering tab will be included. If new offerings are added after a policy is created, you must manually associate the new courses with an existing policy or create a new policy.

  11. Complete the Skills Based Policy Attributes if you selected either Skills Based or Hybrid in step 5.

  12. Click Save. Sample Assignment Based Grading Policy   Sample Skills Based Grading Policy
